Camber Sands to Greatstone

8th October 2021 | Miles 15.2 | Elevation gain 52ft

A 15 mile walk from Camber Sands to Greatstone, round the Dungeness peninsula, with a 7 mile inland stretch to Lydd and back to the coast to avoid the MoD firing ranges
Getting there and back
From our accommodation in Rye, we drove for around 25 minutes to the Greatstone Beach car park. The bus stop is right by the car park, opposite the Jolly Fisherman. From there, we caught the 102 bus back to Camber, taking around a half an hour. From the bus stop by the Pontins, it’s a few steps down to the Camber Car Park and the beach to find the start of the coast path.
Weather conditions
Nice calm weather - around 18 degrees and no wind, perfect walking conditions!
Walking difficulty
Easy and very flat - but the two miles on shingle around Dungeness are heavy going!!
