Scratby to Sea Palling
(Our overall day number 22 - Part of The KC3 ECP Leg 45 - Hopton On Sea to Sea Palling)Scratby to Sea Palling
24th October 2022 | Miles 9.5 | Elevation gain 318ft
A 9.5 mile walk from Scratby to Sea Palling, mostly on the beach. An early inland detour to Hemsby for coffee and doughnuts followed by a glorious walk up the beach past Winterton. As we approach Horsey the beach became crowded with seals preparing to give birth and we retreated into the dunes to view from a distance and leave undisturbed. Back on the beach, it was another two miles to our finish point at Sea Palling.
Getting there and back
As we found out on leg 46, the 34 bus runs to Sea Palling on weekdays only and not very regularly. It's not easy - it would have taken a two hour trip in the morning and no way to get back in the evening at the end of the walk. So we took advantage of the extra car and parked either end.
Weather conditions
Much better than the day before - dry all day with an outbreak of sun every now and then.
Walking difficulty
Easy - pretty much entirely along the beach, though we did have to divert up onto the cliffs near Horsey to avoid the seals

Dropping off a car at one end of the walk, we broke our usual public transport rules - too difficult!
