St Peter's Chapel to Maylandsea
(Our overall day number 27 - Part of The KC3 ECP Leg 35 - Burnham-on-Crouch to Maldon)St Peter's Chapel to Maylandsea
16th April 2023 | Miles 17.0 | Elevation gain 13ft
Our longest day so far! 17 miles from St Peter's Chapel to Maylandsea, around the peninsula and then heading along the south coast of the Blackwater Estuary. Through muddy Bradwell Marina, then on to St Lawrence and finally Maylandsea.
Getting there and back
Once again we had to use two cars to make any progress - we dropped one car off in Maylandsea (parked on the road as there is no public car park close to the path in Maylandsea) and then took the other car to the Chapel car park to start the walk. It is possible to do this stretch using the bus (see main leg page) but it would've added two more miles, and can't be done on a Sunday.
Weather conditions
Cold and misty start, remaining overcast for much of the day, hardly any wind. It cheered up a bit later in the day to reach a high of 13 degrees.
Walking difficulty
Easy - though this is a long section, and there were some muddy challenges - especially at Bradwell Marina, where due to ongoing works, we had to cross a very muddy section

Bradwell Marina - we were hoping for some breakfast here but nothing was open :(

Slightly weird walk through the marina - unusually no England Coast path waymarkers.

We had to wade through this mud to reach the sea wall and regain the path - there didn't seem to be any other route, but we can't help suspecting that we strayed off the path a bit?
