Sidmouth to Seaton
19th May 2024 | Miles 10.1 | Elevation gain 2342ft
Just over 10 and a half miles along a challenging section of coast. The climbing starts right from Sidmouth, over Salcombe Hill, right down to the beach at Weston Mouth, where it is well worth taking a rest as it can only be reached by foot. Over another steep hill and then down into Branscombe Mouth, a pretty village with a cafe and a pub. More ups and downs then lead to the busy village of Beer, and finally on to Seaton.
Getting there and back
We made an early start and walked from our accommodation to Seaton, and then caught the 9A bus back to Sidmouth at the end of the day.
Weather conditions
Dry and sunny with blue skies all day
Walking difficulty
Difficult - especially the first six miles. Steep ascent out of Sidmouth, a dip into Salcombe Mouth, then back down to sea level at Weston Mouth, and straight back up. The route flattens out a little after Branscombe.
