Maldon to Goldhanger

26th October 2021 | Miles 8.9 | Elevation gain 77ft

A 7.5 mile walk (it took us 8.9 miles due to a dropped dog lead!). Starting in bustling Maldon, through the town and then out along the Blackwater Estuary, the walking soon felt increasingly remote.
Getting there and back
We started this leg on our first morning, and drove from our home town to Goldhanger and the Chequers Inn, which we’d identified as the finish point for the day, and a good spot to leave the fully loaded car. After a coffee, we caught the 95 bus from right outside the pub back to Promenade Park in Maldon where the leg starts.
Weather conditions
Dry and mild, overcast. Not windy.
Walking difficulty
Easy - very flat and well established paths

Our trip started at the Chequers Inn, Goldhanger, from where we caught the bus back to Maldon. Serves nice coffee!

Powered by Prosecco
We dropped the dog lead on the path, requiring a mood-dampening retrace of steps adding an extra mile to the day. Nothing to do with the prosecco stop.
