We walked 13 miles round Mersea Island on this leg. Starting from the Cudmore Grove Country Park, we headed anti-clockwise around the eastern tip of the island and then along the north coast, through the marshes, followed by a short stretch on the road near the Strood, and then on to West Mersea, the only town on the island. On the southern side, the path runs along West Mersea beach, takes a detour inland to avoid some eroded and dangerous coastline, then back on the beach for the final short stretch to the start point at Cudmore Grove.
