Weybourne to Morston
(Our overall day number 6 - Part of The KC3 ECP Leg 47 - Weybourne to Hunstanton)Weybourne to Morston
1st April 2022 | Miles 9.8 | Elevation gain 105ft
A 9.8 mile walk, initially along the shingle beach for around 5 miles, then heading inland around the Cley Channel, to Cley next the Sea, and then out towards the sea again, around the Fresh Marshes, back to Blakeney. The final stretch is along the Morston Salt Marshes back to Morston Quay
Getting there and back
We parked our car at Morston Quay National Trust car park - free to members but £6 a day otherwise. From the bus stop at the Street at Marston, we caught the CH1 Coasthopper bus back to Weybourne to start the walk
Weather conditions
A nasty northerly and snowy squalls made the weather unseasonably cold, and the first part of the walk along the shingle beach was quite hostile. Once the walk reached the marshes, the wind was less fierce and the sun was out.
Walking difficulty
Easy - bordering on moderate, but only because we hate shingle and the first four miles out of Weybourne are a slog through the pebbles

Setting off up the shingle beach at Weybourne - about to remember how tough walking on shingle is!

It was cold and windy! But at least we had the wind on our backs.

It snowed!

Clear skies - but it was very changeable

After lunch in a conveniently placed shelter on the beach, we turned inland towards Cley next the Sea, away from the nasty north-easterly wind

Historical flood levels at Blakeney. We did consider parking our car here briefly but the car park is tidal!
