We walked 38 miles for this leg in North Norfolk. Starting from Weybourne, the route runs along the shingle beach for four miles before turning inland to Cley next the Sea, to navigate the Cley Channel. From Cley the path heads back out to the coast through the Fresh Marshes, back to Blakeney and then on past the salt marshes to Wells-next-the-Sea. From Wells Beach the route passes through the woods to the Holkham Gap, where it emerges onto the sands of Holkham Bay. After a spectacular couple of miles on the beach, the path returns to Burnham Overy Staithe, and then onto Brancaster. From Brancaster to Thornham, there is a stretch of road (The England Coast Path may ultimately find a different route than this road, which would be a good thing). From Thornham the path heads out towards the beach again, around Gore Point and finally along the beach and the dunes into Hunstanton.

How we approached this leg
Although we originally planned to take our time over four days with this leg, we did complete it in three days Friday - Sunday (9.8 miles, 13.6 miles, 14.9 miles) because the forecast for Monday was so poor.
Where we stayed
We stayed in a cottage in Brancaster, very close to the Ship Inn. It was very helpful that this was on the bus route.
