Morston to Burnham Overy Staithe

2nd April 2022 | Miles 13.6 | Elevation gain 257ft

A 13.6 mile walk, heading out of Morston through the Stiffkey Marshes to Wells next the Sea, then heading out towards Wells Beach and Holkham Beach for a spectacular walk at low tide along miles of golden sand, before completing the day at Burnham Overy Staithe
Getting there and back
To reach the start of the walk, we parked our car in the Wells town car park (around 20 minute drive from Brancaster) and caught the CH1 Coasthopper to Morston. Showing a lot of willpower, 6 miles later we walked right past our car and on to Burnham Overy Staithe, where we caught the 36 Coastliner back to Wells. It would have been possible to catch the 36 from outside our cottage, and link up with the CH1, and therefore avoiding the need to use the car at all, but the changeover time was 2 minutes, and with one of each bus per hour, we decided not to take the risk!
Weather conditions
Much calmer wind that Day 1, mostly sunny but with the occasional snowy squall (we did start the walk at Morston in the snow). Warmish in the sun but very chilly when out of the sun and in the wind.
Walking difficulty
Easy - mainly flat and some fabulous beach sections

Car park at Morston - the start of our second day
Despite the evil looking sky, this was a tranquil spot for a short break - between Morston and Stiffkey. That boat's not going anywhere.
Ani foraging
Not sure what Sarah and Ani were looking at here, but it must've been interesting!

On the bus at the end of day 2 - this was definitely our seat!
