Overstrand to Weybourne

24th June 2022 | Miles 10.7 | Elevation gain 1291ft

Nearly 11 miles along the Norfolk Coast. Coast Road to the beach at Overstrand, followed by three miles along the wide sandy beach to Cromer. The path climbs up, passes through Cromer and then heads out to Sheringham and then Weybourne along the cliff tops.
Getting there and back
From the bus interchange in Cromer, we caught the CH2 Coasthopper to the Coast Road bus stop at Overstrand, around a 12 minute ride (this bus stop is on the coast path). We walked back through Cromer and on to Weybourne and at the end of the walk, it's a five minute walk up the road from Weybourne Beach to the Church, from where we caught the CH1 Coasthopper back to the bus interchange at Cromer. On public transport, for a one day walk, catch the train from Norwich to Cromer and then replicate the approach above.
Weather conditions
Similar temperatures to the previous day - around 21 degrees by afternoon, but the gentle southwesterly wind made it feel warmer than the previous day where we had the northeasterly breeze in our faces. We started earlier than usual to avoid the heat and give us extra time to enjoy the walk.
Walking difficulty
Moderate - but only just - this section did have some ups and downs, but not too challenging

Early start at Overstrand, heading towards Cromer
Tide receding in the early morning, we walked up this fabulous beach almost on our own

Crowded, this beach

Climbing Beeston Bump. We didn't see any sign of the terrifying hound the Black Shuck!
Looking back from Beeston Bump
Lunch and prosecco at the Crown in Sheringham - after the early start we felt we deserved to forego our usual sandwiches!
Overlooking Sheringham Golf Club towards Weybourne - the end of our walk in sight!
Approaching the beach car park at Weybourne (the start of our walk in April). Happy that we didn't have to walk up the shingle beach, and that the weather is considerably warmer!
