A 25 mile stretch in North Norfolk. Starting from Sea Palling, we walked up the beach towards Eccles and then on to Happisburg, and past the distinctive lighthouse. Up onto the cliffs for a bit, and then past Bacton, where we were confined to the beach by the gas distribution station. This meant a race against the tide to reach our lunch stop on the cliffs at Mundesley. After an early start on day 2, it was a great walk along the beach to Cromer, and then on, over the Beeston Bump and down into Sheringham for lunch. It's a further three and half miles to Weybourne, where we finished, relieved we did not have to tackle the challenging shingle beach that marked the start of our April 2022 Leg 47 walk.
Day by day

How we approached this leg
We walked this leg over two days. On day one we walked from Sea Palling to the Coast Road bus stop between Sidestrand and Overstrand (this bus stop is on the coast path). From here we caught the CH2 Coasthopper bus back to Mundesley where we had left our car. On day two we caught the CH2 from Cromer down to the Coast Road bus stop, walked back up the beach to Cromer and then onwards along the cliffs to Weybourne. From Weybourne we caught the CH1 Coasthopper back to Cromer.
Day one proved long at around 15 miles. We could have stopped in Trimingham (12 miles) but this would have left 12+ miles for the final day and we still had a three hour drive home to follow, so we pushed on at the end of day one. Tough at the time, but made day two shorter and we were glad we'd done it.
Where we stayed
We stayed in Cromer, which is a traditional seaside resort, and one of North Norfolk's most popular destinations. A good choice.
