Exceat to Eastbourne Pier

28th July 2022 | Miles 9.5 | Elevation gain 2271ft

A 9.5 mile walk, initially along the Cuckmere Valley, before climbing to the cliff top and up and down the Seven Sisters and to Birling Gap. Ascending up to the Belle Tout lighthouse, and then further to Beachy Head, the highest point of the walk. It's then a fairly steep descent into Eastbourne, with the final stretch along the promenade to the pier.
Getting there and back
We parked our car in the NCP Trinity Place car park, from there it's a few minutes to the bus stop at the Memorial roundabout to pick up the 12 Coaster bus for the 20 minute ride back to the Seven Sisters Park Centre to commence the walk. For a one day walk by public transport, it's 1 hr 25 mins on the train from London Victoria station, then a five minute walk to the Memorial roundabout to pick up the 12 Coaster as above.
Weather conditions
Mainly overcast with sunny spells earlier but a short shower early afternoon as we approached Eastbourne. Around 22 degrees, but with a fresh wind from the north east it felt a little colder at times
Walking difficulty
Moderate - ups and downs over the Seven Sisters, and then a climb up to Beachy Head

You've been warned

Not especially high but the Seven Sisters are a workout!

Beachy Head - we can see pretty much the whole walk from here - the lighthouse, Seaford Head, and beyond that Brighton
And that'll be Eastbourne
