A 33 mile leg running from Shoreham-By-Sea, through some industrial parts, then along the promenade from Hove through Brighton, around the Marina, then under the cliffs between Roedean and Saltdean, along the cliff tops from Peacehaven, around the harbour at Newhaven, then through Seaford and around Seaford Head. Turning inland to circumnavigate Cuckmere Haven via Exceat, and then The Seven Sisters and Beachy Head before descending into Eastbourne to finish the leg at the Pier.
Day by day
How we approached this leg
We walked this leg over three days. We walked a longer day 1 (13.3 miles Shoreham-By-Sea to Peacehaven) on flatter terrain, but this day could be shorter or even a bit longer as you like as the 12 Coaster bus runs down the coast. Exeat is a good point for day 2 finish / day 3 start point as the 12 Coaster calls here. This also has the benefit of making day 3 a relatively short 9.5 miles over the ups and downs of the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head
Where we stayed
We stayed in Kemp Town, which is on the eastern side of Brighton. Brighton is buzzing with many options for eating and drinking. We attempted to take full advantage!
