Robin Hood's Bay to Whitby

26th June 2024 | Miles 7.1 | Elevation gain 1347ft

Just over 7 enjoyable miles from Robin Hoods Bay to Whitby, along a very scenic cliff top path. Starting early, we enjoyed some fabulous views in the slightly misty conditions. The path approaches Whitby via the Abbey, before descending into the town to cross the River Esk
Getting there and back
We caught the X93 MAX bus from Whitby bus station to Thorpe Road at Robin Hood's Bay, adjacent to the path which runs up the B1447 for a few hundred metres before turning right and climbing up onto the cliffs.
Weather conditions
With another hot day brewing, we started early. It was misty but sunny, which made for fantastic walking with cliffs looming up, appearing and then hidden. Sunny and hot by the time we reached Whitby for an early lunch.
Walking difficulty
Moderate - pleasant cliff top walking, nothing too challenging
