Deal to Sandwich
17th February 2025 | Miles 10.2 | Elevation gain 23ft
Just over ten miles straight up the coast from Deal, past the three championship golf courses - Royal Cinque Ports, Royal St Georges and finally passing round the top end of Princes before doubling back along the flood bank and into Sandwich to finish the walk.
Getting there and back
We caught the train from Folkestone to Deal, walked to Sandwich and then train back to Folkestone from there. This whole stretch is well served by trains.
Weather conditions
Dry and sunny, but nevertheless incredibly cold on the coastline with the bitter easterly whipping off the sea - we wore every piece of clothing available!
Walking difficulty
Easy, completely flat and well marked paths

The following day - before leaving we walked back up the beach ...

.. as when we first walked this section in 2021, the beach was closed for development, and we divert inland
