36.0 official miles

Guest walkers:
Ani The Dog
A 36 mile stretch starting with a lung testing climb out of Folkestone up onto the high chalk cliffs of Kent, descending into Dover, then up again onto the well-trodden White Cliffs, down briefly into St Margaret's Bay then one final up and down into Walmer. From there it's a well earned flat walk up the coast past Deal and the three championship golf courses, looping back into Sandwich, then finishing with a slightly less glamorous mainly road based walk into Ramsgate.

How we approached this leg
Due to the spacing of the train stops, this leg really lends itself well to slightly shorter walks Folkestone to Dover to Deal to Sandwich to Ramsgate - four walks of ten miles or under, mostly on reasonably forgiving terrain, made this a great leg for winter walking with short days. Beware, however, the evil east wind 😂
Where we stayed
Folkestone, by the waterfront, near the Harbour Arm. Trendy spot with plenty going on even in chilly February

Resources & information
Battle of Britain Memorial, Capel-le-Ferne
On the path, top of the cliffs, after the big climb out of Folkestone. The skies above here were named Hellfire Corner. It's brilliant and well worth a visit - it was so cold that we only spent 15 minutes here but we'd go back!
