Whitstable to Faversham
4th July 2025 | Miles 9.4 | Elevation gain 69ft
A 9.5 mile walk along the North Kent coast, starting from Whitstable Harbour, out to the shingle beach, then on up to Seasalter. After another mile and a half, the path follows the flood bank around Cleve Marshes and Nagden Marshes (and a massive solar farm) before turning back along Faversham Creek and then on round, past the wharf area with some very inviting looking waterfront bars and restaurants, to finish the day’s walk at the bridge across the creek.
Ever Again?
Quite enjoyable with some interesting bits, but not a big Wow - worth doing once but we won’t be doing it again.
Getting there and back
Good train connections for this stretch - Faversham is direct from London Victoria and St Pancras, and Whitstable is a few minutes train from there. We walked from where we stayed in Whitstable and then caught the train back from Faversham at the end of the walk. It’s about 0.5 miles, from the bridge across Faversham Creek, to the train station.
Weather conditions
Sunny and warm - around 22 degrees, a light breeze to keep us a little cooler.
Walking difficulty
Easy - flat and well marked paths for the most part. Some uneven / cracked parts potentially breaking ankles around the Nagden Marshes.
