Faversham to Conyer
5th July 2025 | Miles 10.0 | Elevation gain 47ft
A 10 mile walk along the North Kent coast, starting from the bridge across Faversham Creek, for a three mile circle round the Ham Marshes, to reach Oare, across Oare Creek and then back towards the coast, around the Oare Marshes, and Teynham Level, with views across The Swale to The Isle of Sheppey. At the 9 mile mark, we turned south for the final mile into Conyer.
Ever Again?
Not much to rave about on this walk - flood bank and marshes all become a bit samey after a while - we won’t be going back for a repeat
Getting there and back
Good train connections for this stretch, though with a bit of a walk either end - we caught the train to Faversham (we came from Whitstable - Faversham is direct from London Victoria and St Pancras). It’s It’s about half a mile from Faversham station to the bridge across Faversham Creek. From the end of the walk in Conyer, it’s about a mile and a quarter on a footpath to reach Teynham Station, from where we travelled back to Faversham and then Whitstable.
Weather conditions
Windy and overcast, feeling humid out of the wind - around 20 degrees
Walking difficulty
Easy - flat and well marked paths for the most part. Some uneven / cracked parts nearer the end of the walk. A field full of cows to navigate near the start at Faversham, but they were unbothered by our presence.

Just before the bridge crossing Faversham Creek - this ECP sign is pointing the wrong way - the path crosses the bridge in the direction of the cycle 1 sign!

Big warning signs about bull in field and cows. There was no bull, and the cows were distant - might have been the farmer trying to stop walkers following the right of way?

That's where we'll be tomorrow - looking up The Swale towards the Sheppey Crossing
