11th April 2026 9.7 miles 68ft elevation gain
Just under ten miles from Pitsea station, walking along the line of the rail track, and then south towards Bowers Marshes, bypassing the Canvey Island loop (already completed) and out along the wide floodbank towards Southend. It's a two and a half mile loop round the interesting Two Tree Island (formerly a landfill site, though you wouldn't know it), to arrive at Leigh-on-Sea.
Ever Again?
We enjoyed this walk, somewhat surprising ourselves after the slightly dire previous stretch from Tilbury. Very pleasant walking along the wide flood bank after passing the Canvey Island turn off.

Overcast, breezy and cold at the start giving way to blue skies and warmer conditions
Walking difficulty
Easy - a mile or two of uneven terrain before Canvey Island, then wide flood bank to Two Tree Island
