A one day 11.2 mile walk from Erith to The O2, via Woolwich. Strictly speaking some of this walk was out of scope - the England Coast Path was originally meant to cross the Thames using the ferry between Gravesend and Tilbury. Then it was decided that extending the path on the south bank along to Woolwich would enable it to join up with the Thames Path and create a continuous route from the sea to Central London. No similar extension has been made on the north bank, and the path continues to run from Tilbury. We would have caught the train from Woolwich back to Canary Wharf, but we were having a good time so we walked it instead!
How we approached this leg
The clocks had gone back that morning so we set off very early from home, parked at Canary Wharf (beware ££), and caught two trains - Elizabeth Line to Woolwich and then the train to Erith. We walked back to the O2 and we were back in canary Wharf in time for lunch.
Where we stayed
This was a one day walk from home so no overnight accommodation required
