A 27 mile walk (excluding the 4 miles round the Steart Peninsula) between Bridgwater and Watchet, initially winding north along the west bank of the River Parrett, reaching the coastline at Steart, and the Somerset Wetlands National Nature Reserve, and then along the coast to Watchet, interrupted only by a two mile diversion around the Hinkley Point power station. In the final few miles towards Watchet, there are views across to the Quantock Hills.
! At the time of our walk, there were winter restrictions 1st October to 31st March on the Steart Peninsula to protect over-wintering birds - the diversion is along the road. We decided to miss this section (it's a 4 mile circular walk from the Wall Common car park) and come back in the summer months to complete it.
! Also note that, in the final few miles, the sections along St Audrie's Bay and Helwell Bay on the approach to Watchet both run along a beach that is flooded at high tide, and with no viable alternative. Care should therefore be taken with tide times.
Day by day

How we approached this leg
We walked this section over three days, all using two cars. On day one we parked on Linham Road in Bridgwater and Wall Common car park on the Steart Peninsula, on day two we walked from the Wall Common car park to the Kilve Beach car park, and then on day three we walked from Kilve Beach back to our accommodation in Watchet.
Where we stayed
We stayed in Watchet - not a huge town but some decent pubs to keep us occupied
